Today Leo turned 6 months, not traditionally one to of the big birthday milestones! For him it means very little (Doctors now recommend a more varied diet so the weekend he'll try eggs), but for us it seems special. It feels like he's only been here for a blink of an eye, yet at the same time, life with out him seems like a distant memory.
Like the good clockwork baby he is, the switch to one less feed a night seems to have been made bang on six months. Once again he only woke up twice, this time around 03:00 and 05:00. The extra sleep seems so luxurious!
This morning we had an appointment at the doctors. When Leo was born we were asked of we would participate in a medical trial. He qualified because I have a history of allergies and eczema (sorry leo). In the study, we take the roll of moisturisers. Essentially the doctor provides us with bucket loads of moisturiser, bath gel and wipes for free. We have to routinely use the products and keep a diary. The products are really nice so it's not a chore. Each evening after he's eaten we give him a bath or just a flannel wash using the gel followed by a full body moisturising. It's a nice thing to do, he enjoys the massage, I think it's good bonding and a relaxing part of his bed time routine.
Anyway. Today's appointment was just a check in. The doctors took some measurements of moisture levels in his skin and we collected more supplies. If he had any skin problems he would be given any treatment required, but actually everything looks very good. So after he'd had a giggle with the doctors we walked home.
After lunch we headed to SpeakEasy, my language school for a lesson with Karoline. She agreed to let me bring Leo into the lesson, it's 1:1 so there is no one else to disturb and actually I think she's quite pleased to have a cute little baby there. it's been months since my last class with Karoline and I was pleased that it felt like I'd made some big progress. I plan to do this once a week from now on as well as fitting in some time for homework when Leo naps.
