Everything & nothing

Funny day. We did almost nothing but it was really eventful.

Leo is still full of snot and exhausted. We hardly slept last night. From 23:00 till 02:30 he was waking up every 20 odd minutes. For me it was how I imagine sleep deprivation torture. We then had a solid 2 hours sleep before he was simply awake. Eventually I gave up and brought him into our bed, only lying on his mums chest was enough to get him to rest.

The exciting mile stone for him is that this cold appears to be caused by his first tooth coming. The front right bottom tooth feels to me to be spiking out of the gums. Certainly not pleasant for anyone, but still a major landmark.

With Leo being ill and the weather being so grim, I wanted to take the day easy again and we stayed in most of the morning. However after his morning nap I was suffering from cabin fever and we left to brave the rain. He was totally wrapped up, rainproofed and happy. Myself, not so much. After the walk I made him a huge lunch and he tried a homemade baby hummus for the first time. I'd describe his reaction as unimpressed, but he ploughed his way through anyway. The best way for me to serve it to him was to smother it on bread solders, which he would then suck.

After another good nap I contemplated another walk, but the wind had picked up and decided being inside was definitely for the best. It was so strong I saw tree branches snap off and block the tram tracks, a portaloo blow over into the road and a couple of our neighbours windows smash. We stayed in.

I then got a call from my partner, she'd spoken to our landlords about the apartment and they need us to move out ASAP. They have discovered (after months of being told by us) that the place is a death trap (or at least a mild health hazard). They are offering us the downstairs apartment, all the moving fees and no rent while the place is fixed up. My fear is that the place downstairs is in a really poor condition, and worse, its directly above a bar so incredibly noisy. I don't think the repairs will take less than 2 months.

We're asking if they will let us find a new place and end our contract immediately (usually the notice period is three months). Lets see, either way this is going to be a major change for us.

As I said a day of nothing and everything. Leo in bed at 19:00 as usual, fingers crossed for a better night and no more drama.
